Another Holy Cross School Success Story

One of the reasons Holy Cross School is such a success is that the staff members are not only given great training and education but also wonderful opportunities that enrich their lives and feed their passion at the same time. The school's first teacher, Ntombekaya Myeki, recently received her education degree from Rhodes University, of course. And now another person who works closely with our Grade R children, Bongisani Soxujwa, has just been accepted into a programme in the Centre for Social Development at Rhodes University. This is a two-year course that will give Bongisani an Early Childhood Development Certificate at Level 4, allowing him to assist in teaching young students at the pre-school level.

We are glad that the course allows him to do his practical work on site at Holy Cross School under the mentoring of Ntombekaya and Stephen Smith, our Young Adult Service Corps volunteer from the Episcopal Church in the United States. Bongisani has one week of classes at the Centre once a month, and then the teachers of the course make onsite visits at Holy Cross School. Bongisani will also be required to complete a monthly onsite project. So the syllabus is challenging and rigorous.

It is quite competitive to get a place in the programme, so Bongisani deserves much credit for his passion and dedication to our school. Holy Cross School will be receiving a great benefit from Bongisani's work and growth in this curriculum. This is just another example of how the school allows for new and exciting discoveries to emerge not only for our little ones but for those who guide them as well.

Please pray for Bongisani as he takes on this challenge and for his continued learning under Ntombekaya's and Stephen's wise direction.
