Four Men Coming to See
We just completed our Enquirers Week this November. Four men, ages 24 to 42, came to see if the monastic vocation was a possibility for them. They studied, they worked, they formed community, they talked with the monks, they learned about themselves and about us. The programme was filled with activity, which included general introductions to monasticism and the Rule and a DVD entitled The Monastery produced by the BBC was shown. Some of the topics covered were prayer – the Divine Office and lectio, in particular, an introduction to the Rule of St. Benedict, formation in the monastery, Q&A with the novice and those in temporary vows, work and ministry and a talk given by Sr. Cornelia Ransom, OSH about the Order of St. Helena and its relationship with the Order of the Holy Cross. The DVD was a documentary about five men being invited by the BBC to spend 6 weeks at Worth Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Sussex. Our four men left very enriched and full. They have much food for their heart and mind to reflect upon. We’ll keep you posted … |
