Children of the Cross
The Children of the Cross have given us years of joy, excitement and challenge. They are an active group of young people who come to us almost every Sunday for church, sometimes walking as much as 12 km. They chose their name, not us. We sponsor them in our Scholarship Programme. They work hard in our After-School Programme. They play cricket. They learn from us in our Sunday School. We have seen many of them grow up, and become very mature and courageous young men and women who have already done rich and exciting things with their lives. A young woman has graduated from university and is now working for Volkswagen. One young man is a prefect at Graeme College in Grahamstown. Another is single-handedly raising two younger siblings while making good grades in a tertiary institution. Another has done an internship in Washington, DC and even helped research a news story that was aired on National Public Radio in the United States. They have become role models for the ones who follow, and now the seed is planted in the ones coming up. We so care for them. We so delight in them and are proud of all of them. Here are some of their faces. [ click on images to enlarge ] |
