The Children of the Cross’s Passion!

Well Ntisika Kitsili and the Children of the Cross did it again! They put on another dramatic production for us and showed us more parts of themselves that we didn’t know were there. They never cease to surprise us.

This time, their performance was a profound introduction to our Holy Week liturgy this year. During the Eucharist on Palm Sunday, in place of the Passion Narrative for the Gospel, the Children presented their interpretation of St. Luke’s Passion, and what a startling interpretation it was!

Ntsika wrote and directed the rendition while the Children played various parts as disciples, Judas and Peter. Babalwa Gusha provided the music and a poem that she wrote herself and performed. They gave the Passion a profound relevance to the situation in the world today and showed us how we are replaying Jesus’s suffering, rejection, denial and Crucifixion again and again.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect beginning to our Holy Week!
