The Return

We are so delighted by the return of Sr. Cornelia Ransom of the Order of St. Helena who arrived in late October and will be with us for three months. She has visited the monastery two times before. One of those times about two years ago was for her 50th Anniversary of her Life Profession, and since this year was her 80th birthday, she couldn’t think of a more appropriate place to celebrate again.

During many of her years in OSH, she was the Superior of that community, which the Order of the Holy Cross assisted in its founding. Before she was in vows, she was a maths teacher for a long time. So, this time, she has offered her services in tutoring three of our children in the middle group in the After-School Programme while also cleaning the odd window or talking to our Enquirers about her Order and its relationship to OHC.

Before her arrival here, she also got busy immediately when her plans were set and was able to obtain donations from many in the United States for materials for the After-School. She has found her stay both challenging and exhilarating. Always enjoying a good challenge, she has put our children to hard work while they have enjoyed her assistance a great deal.

We also have found her presence with us another real source of comfort and wisdom for our own journeys in the vowed life and with God. We thank her for all that she offers us during this very busy and important time in our lives.
